Troubleshooting CleverTouch Board Display Issues

This guide is designed to help teachers and staff resolve common display issues with classroom CleverTouch interactive boards, such as blank screens, “No Signal” errors, or discolored/blown up screens. Most display issues can be fixed in a few minutes with these basic steps.

Before diving into specific symptoms, please verify the following:

• Ensure the board is plugged in properly to the outlet, and that your PC is powered on if you intend to use the PC side of your CleverTouch board.
• Look at the power button on the front control panel. If it is glowing red, the board is in standby mode. Press it once to wake the board up (the light should turn a different color)
• Verify that all cables that connect your computer to the CleverTouch board are firmly plugged into both the computer and CleverTouch board. If you do not know which cables are which, do not hesitate to reach out to the Technology Department for assistance.

Troubleshooting by Symptom

When using the PC side, the screen is discolored and blown up
• Power down the CleverTouch board via your remote, or by holding down the power button on the board itself. Keep it powered off.
• Next, restart your PC. After the PC restarts and is at the sign in screen, power the board back on and switch to the PC side of your board.

The screen displays a “No Signal” message
• Check the input source, as the board might be looking at the wrong input channel. Use the CleverTouch remote or the input button (the HDMI icon on the side panel accessible by hitting the pencil icon) to cycle through the inputs (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.) until you find the one connected to your device.

• Ensure your connected laptop or desktop hasn’t gone to sleep. Press the spacebar or wiggle the mouse to wake up the device.

• Verify that the display cable that connects your computer to the CleverTouch board are firmly plugged into the computer and board, and are not bent or damaged. If you do not know which cables are which, do not hesitate to reach out to the Technology Department for assistance.

The screen is frozen

Identify the frozen device – is it the connected PC that is frozen, or the built-in CleverTouch Android interface?

  • If it’s your computer: Reboot your computer.

If it’s the CleverTouch side: Press and hold the power button on the front or bottom of the board for about 5-10 seconds to force a shutdown. If it doesn’t respond, toggle the master switch off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.

If none of these techniques resolve your issues, or you’re having different issues than the ones listed here, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Technology Department for assistance.
